How to configure the Wayknow application for EcoCalc use
In order for us to use the EcoCalc software, we are all now able to remote into a single computer. We do this by using an application called Wayknow.
1. Locate the Software folder located in the WSI Shares Folder.
2. Find the Wayknow application located at the bottom of the folder, right click and copy, and paste it to your desktop for easy use. (The blue bird icon)
3. When you open the application, it will ask if you would like to update. Click NO! If you mistakenly click yes, just close the browser that opens up, the application will open up normally either way. The updated version of this app requires a paid license, the free version works just as well.
4. This is the screen you will see after opening the application.
The Source ID is generated for you by the application. This is your personal computer's ID number. The target ID is the ID number of the computer that we are trying to remote into. In this case it would be the EcoCalc computer. Before we can do that, though, we have to uncheck some settings first.
5. In the top left hand corner of the application, click File > Options.
6. Click on the security tab, and make sure that Secure Remote Delegation is the only option checked. So you will need to uncheck Secure Remote Password and Prompt for Permission.
7. Click OK to confirm. You may need to close out the entire Wayknow application and restart at this point as well to make sure it updates properly.
8. We now are going to connect to the EcoCalc machine. The TargetID is the unique ID number of the EcoCalc computer, for security purposes I won't be putting that inside the article. When you are connecting to this computer, please open a ticket with the help desk so we can share that information securely.
9. After clicking connect, with the TargetID information given securely, you may be met with a screen like this.
If this is the case, this means that the Wayknow application on the EcoCalc computer is not open. Occasionally, due to some limitations, it will close down on its own and require a member of the technical team to reopen it. If you are met with this screen, open a ticket so we can properly open Wayknow on the EcoCalc computer.
10. After clicking connect, you will be remoted into the EcoCalc computer! You will see a screen like this.
The EcoCalc application is located at the center of the desktop.
11. Launch the EcoCalc application.
When you are done using the application, you can click on the X in the top right hand corner of the Wayknow window to disconnect from the session.
Whenever you need to run EcoCalc, please OPEN UP A TICKET with the help desk so that we can open up Wayknow on the EcoCalc computer, and provide the secure information needed to connect.
