Laptop users must have the FortiClient VPN application installed properly on their device, in order to ensure proper connection to the WSI domain.
Note: By the time a user has their laptop FortiClient should already be installed. If you already have FortiClient, skip down to Step 8
1. A copy of the FortiClient installer is located in the Shares > Software folder
The actual installation process is rather straight-forward.
You may have security warnings appear upon initial opening of the application, you should be able to run the application anyway.
2.Once you are able to run it, it will begin the installation process:
3.After clicking "Next" ensure that "Secure Remote Access" is checked.
4.Choose the default install location, which should be C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\
You will then see the installer and the installation status:
5.Once it is done, click "Finish"
You will also see a progress bar showing you the status of the component downloads:
7. Once installed, reboot.
Now that FortiClient is installed, it must be properly configured for Wyatt Seal use.
8. Open up the newly installed FortiClient application. You can do this by searching for it in the bottom left-hand Windows logo, it may also be on your desktop. (If it is not already on your desktop, Right click FortiClient in the Windows search bar, Open File Location > Right click FortiClient > Send to > Desktop, this will send a copy of it to your desktop for quick access)
9. Once you have FortiClient open, click on "Remote Access" on the far left, then click "Configure VPN"
10. Ensure SSL VPN is selected
11. Fill in the fields with the following information (Note that the username will be your First Name and Last Name, not pocasio, see next example below)
example...
12. Ensure that "WSI VPN" is selected in the drop down menu of the "VPN Name
You should now be able to login to the VPN using your Windows password. (It is recommended to check the Always Up box as well)
Once connected you should see a screen like this:
If you need to edit the connection due to a wrong setting, there is a gear icon in the top right hand corner which allows you to add/edit/delete connections.
TROUBLESHOOTING
WHAT TO DO…
1. If you are having problems, first check your WiFi connection. Make sure you can get out on
the internet.
2. Open the VPN Connection if you are connected but can’t reach the network.
Things to note here:
-Note the NAME of your connection.
-Note the IP Address, if needed by IT Support.
-Note the Bytes Received and Bytes Sent which signify data is moving and you are talking to the
network. 0 Bytes is bad… it signifies you aren’t passing data and there may be a routing issue for
IT to look at.
