How To Find Your IP Address

How To Find Your IP Address

CONTENTS
Method #1 - MyPC File
Method #2 - Command Prompt
Method #3 - For FortiClient VPN Users

METHOD #1: MyPC File
In every users' U: Drive, there is a file named 'MyPC.bat'
NOTE: the ".bat" portion of the filename may not be visible... if you see an icon that reads 'MyPC' without the ".bat" extension, that is the same file.

You can run it by double-clicking it or copy it to your Desktop/local PC.
Double-click it and a Command Prompt window will open providing you information.
Your IP address will be listed as shown.
In this example, the IP Addresses are 10.0.0.129 and 10.0.0.104.
NOTE: laptops that are connected to a physical cable and a Wireless connection will show 2 IP addresses.
Please provide both for support purposes.

METHOD #2: Command Prompt
Windows 10
1. Click the Windows icon/Start
2. Begin typing 'CMD' or 'Command Prompt' without quotations.  It is NOT case sensitive.

3. Type 'ipconfig' without the quotations, not case sensitive.

4. Hit Enter on your keyboard.
5. Your IP Address will typically begin with a 10.x.x.x number set.
In this example, the IP Address is 10.0.0.125
If it begins with any other number, report that as well.

Windows 7
1. Click the Windows icon/Start
2. In the Search field, type 'CMD' or 'Command Prompt' without quotations.

METHOD #3 - For VPN Users.
NOTE: Methods #1 and #2 both apply to VPN users, however if you are already on the VPN, this is the quickest method of IP detection.
NOTE: ALL VPN Users should be using the FortiClient VPN application(s).
There are two to speak of.
The first can be downloaded here: https://forticlient.com/
The second can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store (on Windows 8 and 10 only) and looks like this:

IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU USE THE DOWNLOAD VERSION AND NOT THE MS STORE VERSION.

Assuming you have your VPN installed and are connected through the FortiClient you may (depending on your installation) have several tabs on the left to choose from.
Select the tab that reads 'Remote Access'.

On this tab you will see your VPN IP Address.  In this case, it is 10.105.100.201
